Te Ata lives in Oakhanger, near Haslington; she is a councillor and vice chairperson on Crewe Green Parish Council.

She holds the position of Second Officer for Cheshire East Green Party, is an active campaigner and parliamentary candidate for Crewe & Nantwich. Te Ata is passionate about wildlife and sustainability, with a background of woodland planting and management; she is an avid beekeeper. Originally from New Zealand, Te Ata moved over to the UK in 2001 and has strong family values, descending from a long line of feminist women; her mother worked with Women’s Refuge, Grandmother was a peace activist involved with CND, Greenpeace, Red Cross and Freedom for Timor. Te Ata’s unique lived experience in New Zealand where she grew up in simplicity on Great Barrier Island – the only island in the world to receive Dark Sky sanctuary status – has endowed her with a love, respect and appreciation of the natural environment for life. She is one of the founding members of Naked Lunch Co-Operative Café, alongside acting as a green business consultant to the award-winning social enterprise Hedge Arts, who recently won an award for the Biggest Impact on the City of Liverpool for their green activities in the community. Her personal experience in agriculture, BBKA member & volunteer at Jodrell Bank science events and helping young children read makes her an ideal candidate for championing diversity in the Crewe and Nantwich constituency.
